Sweat-free and Ethical Shopping

Feminists are busy people. We combat misogyny, racism, and classism everyday at home, in the workplace, and in the classroom. We then produce art and scholarship that we hope will change the world.

If you're going through a rally/protest lull, as I am nowadays (grad school + work = toothpicks to keep my eyes open)-- remember that you can still be a conscientious consumer.

Consider fair-trade, sweat-free gifts for the holidays:

Feminist Majority Online Store

No Sweat Apparel

Ten Thousand Villages

World of Good

The Breast Cancer Site

One of the gifts I got you was from a feminist organization's website, yet it was made by a company who "strongly supports NAFTA." Hmmmm . . . . It was made in the US, but I still think that might be a conflict of interest. It sucks that we have to decide between eco-friendly and sweat-free or supporting a feminist organization and supporting a free trade agreement that disenfranchises Mexican women and cripples the garment industry of the US and Canada. Oh, the politics of shopping!

But I'm not returning it, and you're gonna wear it and like it, ya hear?
